Al Gore said he believes students are the next American heroes.

"These are not normal times," he said to a crowd of about 3,000 Sunday at the Schottenstein Center. "You must become America's third hero generation."

Gore said previous American "hero generations" were the founders of this country and the young people of World War II. He said he believes current environmental issues are as important as these past national trials.

Clinton, Obama offer no solutions 12

As the race for the Democratic nomination is winding down with every negative political campaign ad run, I find myself as a conservative struggling to decide whom to root against. I mean seriously, who wants a candidate in office like either of the two democrats? They have hundreds of problems they want to solve, but not a single answer for one of them, well not a single viable answer.

It is time to elect a man named 'Hussein' 5

A rose by any other name would smell as sweet. That's how Shakespeare put it. In other words, a rose is a rose is a rose.

Apparently this truism no longer applies in today's climate of nearly tri-partisan politics. People keep talking about Hillary Clinton acting as a pre-emptive spoiler by staying in the game. I thought that was ridiculous just a few weeks ago, before I'd heard of people so set against Obama that they would rather vote for John McCain.

"Debit, credit or Wright1 Card?" This is a question students could be hearing at certain off-campus restaurants as soon as the end of this month.

By late May or early June the initial group of area businesses will implement the Wright1 card as an acceptable method of payment, according to University Bursar and Director of Treasury Services, Steven C.

Why Clinton failed

The Lantern, Ohio State, OH

Thankfully, there is now light at the end of the tunnel in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination. Of course, Barack Obama has been the likely nominee since about March, but the insufferable Hillary Clinton launched a kamikaze campaign that looked like it might just be successful until, well, North Carolina and Indiana finally placed the coup de grace on what had become one the odder presidential campaigns - one that saw Rudy Giuliani spend $50 million to net one delegate and saw Ron Paul get a national microphone.

Details surface on admin's meth arrest

It seems as though Ohio State's interim assistant vice president for Student Affairs and director of housing might have been leading a double life.

Ronald Kochendoerfer, 41, serves as a senior administrator for Housing and Residence Education, whose responsibilities ranged from developing and administering living-learning programs, to training resident advisors on drug and alcohol policy and managing a $9 million fiscal budget.

Last Friday another side of the high-ranking official's life was uncovered when he was arrested and charged with possession of the highly-addictive drug methamphetamine, that was found by deputies during a search of his Short North home.

Because of social, political, and scientific ramifications, it is nearly impossible to carry on a conversation these days with anyone about evolution and intelligent design. This problem stems mainly from ignorance. Creationists disavow science and cannot be excused.

With this year's election marking the first time in U.S. history when an African-American is in serious contention for the presidency, it comes as no surprise that the nature of race relations is being reexamined. What wasn't expected is the extent to which pure racism is influencing the nomination of the Democratic candidate.

I consider myself relatively lucky for this election, as I don't intensely despise the Republican nominee for President, John McCain. Save Ron Paul, had it been Romney, Huckabee(?), Guiliani, or any of the other fools that espoused their hypocritical slime during the Republican primaries, I would probably have turned on the apathy and tuned out the next seven months.
