Glob-AL GORE-ming

The inconvenient truth about his Nobel Prize

Newbaum Turk

Issue date: 11/15/07 Section: Commentary
• Professor Lowell Stott, who earned his PhD here at The Ohio State University, has uncovered more evidence that it is the warming itself that raises carbon dioxide levels (and not the other way around). From Scientific American: "Now, new evidence from a marine sediment core from the deep Pacific points to warmer ocean waters around Antarctica (in sync with the Milankovitch cycle)-not greenhouse gases-as the culprit behind the thawing of the last ice age." Stott explains: "Even accounting for the uncertainties of the age of CO2, the deep sea warmed substantially before the CO2 began to rise." "The deep Pacific is such an enormously large volume of water that [this warming] reflects the input of a tremendous amount of energy into the global system."

• A truck driver in Britain was upset that kids were required to watch Gore's An Inconvenient Truth in school so he sued the public education system… and won. According to The Times, Justice Burton of the High Court in London "identified nine significant errors within the former presidential candidate's documentary as he assessed whether it should be shown to school children. He agreed that Mr. Gore's film was "broadly accurate" in its presentation of the causes and likely effects of climate change but said that some of the claims were wrong and had arisen in 'the context of alarmism and exaggeration.'"

• It is now November, which means the traditional end of hurricane season. If you are a true believer in the Church of Anthropogenic Global Warmism, you are absolutely convinced that our making the globe warm makes for a more frequent and intense hurricanes. Since we are at "record" levels of CO2, we should be seeing record temperatures and, therefore, record hurricanes. What's the verdict for 2007? A thirty year low for hurricane activity in the northern hemisphere. Only 1977 had less activity in the last four decades.
• Since satellite tracking began back in 1979, advocates of man-made global warming have been bemoaning the melting of Arctic ice. Yet Antarctic ice has never been larger than it is today.

Thank you for taking the time to demonstrate your complete inability to refute any of my claims.

Do you really believe that the IPCC has determined that both water and the sun have no effect? And then you have the nerve to ask me if I have read the reports when it is absolutely clear that you have not. (Continued…)

I am glad someone told the truth. And trust me, you don't have to be right winged to see it. Good article and cheers!
