Here at The Sentinel, we are strong advocates of freedom of speech. We have a very open submission policy and we rarely, if ever, censor ourselves. We encourage our readers to share their thoughts with us via email or the comments section on our website. As a strongly leaning libertarian paper comments usually consist of liberals accusing us of being neo-con bigots and conservatives flaming us for deriding traditional family values and telling cock jokes. There is very little deviation from these two extremes.

Unfortunately we rarely get to interact with our readers on a one on one basis. Occasionally, we will post a response in the comment sections, but we often just let the readers' thoughts accumulate and multiply. This month, we decided try something different. We have taken an actual email that was sent to us and we have created a retroactive conversation with this reader. The email is presented unedited and in its entirety below. The Sentinel's part of the conversation is in bold.

"Non-A Guide to Driving...." All right, formal address, I'm digging it. Oh, and the A stands for "asshole."

With five years u-grad school already, you can take this--please. Ummm, I'm not sure what I'm taking, but ok, I'll go with it.

Is that a beer in your hand in the photo, (Mar '09 front pg.)? Sober up and leave some brain cells alive and functioning. We have serious work to do. This sounds serious. Setting down the beer bottle and the crack pipe now.

Your whole premise is wrong. A-h drivers are paid to disorder our successful free market economic system. They are paid from black budgets and kick backs from Agriculture subsides
and jobs training programs passed in seven different years. They let them out, give them cars and gas cards, and tell them to harass the h. out of you. Wait, what? Someone is actually paying these guys to drive a Cavalier with racing stripes and a license plate that says "DONT H8?" Who would do this?

You "Theater and English" types started it-I don't know what you mean by that, but I can assure you, us "Theatre and English" types are not encouraging anyone to put racing stripes on their cars nor are we paying anyone to buy vanity license plates. We may encourage plaid shirts and concert t-shirts, but we are not encouraging that. Moving on.

thinking government is manned by sincere, well-meaning and nice folks like ourselves. What???? The government is paying these guys to be asshole drivers? Like, there's a government conspiracy?
